Time after Time
I have been thinking about how songs are linked to different memories we have throughout our life. Just like when I see a photo and I remember what was happening, when I hear a song I like to remember who I was with and where we were.
I decided to make a list of the songs I can remember off the top of my head with the memories that are associated with them.
1. Lets get sappy song out of the way now ;, Butterfly kisses on my mom's Wow worship cd. My parents used to play this song for me before bed.
2. Basketball: This song is in the Like Mike movie, that I would watch A lot with my sisters and brother. I would rewind that part over and over just so I could try to learn the dance the cheerleaders would do. There is an embarrassing fact for you.
3. Shake it off by Taylor Swift: This song brings me back to being in my aunt's basement over Christmas, & my cousin Augie was visiting from Iowa. Apparently that was his favorite song at the time so we sat down on the couch. We watched as he danced around the room. Then when its get to the yelling part he started yelling too. We were cracking up.
4. I'm good by The Mogwi: This song is a great happy song. My roommate and I were driving home from church with the windows down in the fall. I remember singing this song from top of my lungs and being thankful.
5. Heartbeat by Mat Kearny: This song brings me back to the memory of being at his concert with Holland and Kassie. That night we got to see Needtobreathe and Matt Kearney. During this song he and one of his back up dancers did a fun dance during the middle of the song. His back up dancer ended up doing a back flip at the very end of it.
6. Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars: This was one song played at my cousin's wedding in January. All my relatives were there and when this song came on they got onto to the dance floor. We all had a good time.
7. It's My Party: I would play this song over and over again when I was little. My mom had it on an oldies cd. Since we had hardwood floors in our living room, I remember turning it up on max volume and just spinning around. I had such a carefree feeling even though I didn't know what the song was talking about.
8. Any song off Owl city's album Hello Seattle: This album was Kassie and mine's favorite whenever we drove up to her uncle's cabin in the summer. There were times we didn't know the words but we pretended that we did and burst out laughing
9. Stronger by Mandisa: This song is harder to listen to because of the memories it brings back. God used this song during my freshman year at Crown college. That year was a difficult year for me as I went through difficulties in friendship and many night of being homesick. I remember hearing this song when I was driving home from a night of nannying. God used it to turn my attention back to him. I was able to find strength in him alone to make it through the end of the school year. " even if its hard to see him, I promise that he still cares... this is going to make you stronger"
10. Happy by Pharell This song makes me think of my mom because when it first came out. She loved it and played it all the time. I even made a cd for her and she loved it.
11. Beans in my ears: This song is a family song. My grandma used to play the record when we visited her at her house. It was a favorite of my mom and her sisters. My sisters and I would always laugh because of the message of the song. Now whenever we have green beans for dinner my mom is the first one to break out in song :)
Bonus points if you can finish or name the title of my song ;)
