I love weekends

I love going to Corner coffee on Saturdays with my roommate. Just sitting and talking and being in atmosphere and with live music made it a great start to a morning.

I love when my best friend texts me that we should meet up because she is coming to the cities for 24 hours so we do and get fro yo which besides coffee is my favorite thing in the world.

I love the invention of Skype and being able to chat with my friend about my trip to Japan.
I love packing for vacations.

Sunday was just as great as Saturday minus the fact its the last day before returning to work :(

I love seeing the genuine emption my pastor has when he preaches especially when its about choosing to walk through the wilderness, fasting on something so I can feast on something else.
He challenged us with the question of how is my soul? Then he offered us space to sit and reflect on it.


I love that God connected it to my discover group that meets on Monday night and the book we are studying is about our soul.


I love that I got to see an old family friend and catch up at Avant coffee shop in Anoka. She was so joyful and encouraging as she has a difficult job but continues to show up for those kids who don't know how to receive love.  She is being used by God by dealing with the most difficult kids of the school and caring for them even when they act out and run away. It was like God was saying " Alyssa look beyond your job and see Me in the midst of it."


I love discussing Steadfast love by Lauren Chandler with a friend that is in my discover group.

I love that I feel that God is calling me to start an IF table and that a lady from church chose to sit with me and teach me how to start one. 

I love hanging out with 9 year olds on a Sunday night and getting beat at Battleship, Yahtzee and Uno.

 One thing I love about Mondays, spending my lunch break at Caribou and reading a book. So much peace and calm in the midst of a crazy job. I love that God meets me there and provides a chance for the quiet.

I know it has been a long time since I have written but like i have been saying in my last few posts, college has kept me busy and since I don't have homework tonight, I can come back and blog a little. I will just kinda update you whats going on in my life. Well lets see the semester is coming to an end wohoo!!! just one more week left and then next semester I won't have any more 8 o clock classes which will be SUPER nice. I am still trying to figure out if I am going to continue going to crown next year. I won't bore you with the details but I am possibly considering other schools so we will see. Planet Wisdom

So this past weekend I went to Planet Wisdom with my youth group. Its a conference led by Mark Matlock and Dawson Mcallister. The topic was the last 14 hours of Jesus's life.It was a really good topic to talk about. The big thing that stuck out to me was Jesus was human just like us and he didn't want to die, yet he loved us so much that he did. Mark 14: 36 -36"Abba,Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." This passage shows that he didn't want to but he knew we wouldn't be forgiven by God if he didn't so he died on the cross for us. Another important point was that Jesus dies of suffocation. Fluid filled up in his lungs and no air could get out and thats how he suffocated. Something I think we all have to ask ourselves is Jesus made his choice by dying for us and now we have to make ours.. Is Jesus worth living for? I know I have been in and out in blog world but I have been really busy here at college and I am loving it. But I also have been learning alot and growing in my relationship with God. But its hasn't always been happy joyful times in my walk with God. God has put this story on my heart to share with you guys. So i am going to and sorry there won't be many pictures. Ok so as you know college is EXPENSIVE, especially a private Christian college. Anyways, I did recieve some scholarships and feel very blessed that I did but the plan was I would get an on campus job to cover the other expenses that the scholarships didn't, like room and board. So in the beginning of the year there were all these job openings, and i applied to many of them such as working in the student billing office, finacial aid office,newspaper etc But I didn't get any interviews and they became filled.
